Jacobean Pinkeep Kit
Size: 3 inch diameter
Description:
The project directions for this piece are published in
the Spring '09 issue of Sampler and Antique Needlework Quarterly. The
project is a small pinkeep using two new threads developed for the
Plimoth Plantation Jacket Project - "A Paradise of Silk and Gold".
These threads are a gold thread with a silk core and a silk thread
wrapped with a thin gilt wire. The project uses detached buttonhole
and three goldwork stitches to allow those unfamiliar with 17th
century needlework to try something new in stitches and threads. Use
pins to sign your name around the perimeter.
Kit Contents:
The kit includes the linen, a tube of gilt sylke twist
and of gilt smooth passing #4, two tubes of Soie Gobelin, TIRE silk
thread, spangles, a #10 Handmade Japanese needle, standard embroidery
needles, Mokuba ribbon, silk finishing fabric, batt and skirtex.
Note that the directions are published in Spring '09 Sampler and
Antique Needlework and not included in the kit.

Stuart Glove
I recently developed this project for the public programs which
accompanied the opening of the 'Twixt Art and Nature' exhibit at the
Bard Graduate School of the Decorative Arts and MET. The small
scissors case glove incorporates two new details, applique of a piece
of silk on the linen and the use of silk covered purl - both elements
often used on the heavily embellished cuffs of the Stuart Era. The
project is also available as a kit for you to order.
Size: 3.5 inch x 1.5 inch
Kit Contents:
The kit includes a CD-ROM with the in-process photographs of the
embroidery and finishing. 40 ct. linen, silk fabric, ultrasuede, gold
threads, gilt silk twist, 28-gauge wire and silk covered purl are
included in the kit. Other kit contents include instructions,
skirtex, couching threads and needles.
