Golden Accessories are three needlework accessories (Fob, pinkeep, and needlebook) that are samplings of gold thread embroidery of the 17th century. Adapted from a sweet bag from the period, the tent stitched background in silk is accented by strapwork in gold and silver. Using a Japanese needle, we will learn five stitches from the period in metal thread. Additionally, spiral trellis and bullion in silk will be practiced. The class will be augmented by discussions of metal thread history. The finishing of the pieces will be discussed as well as a CD Rom for each student showing the stitches and finishing in process.
